Kunstfelt Stålaker is located in front of a Larvikite quarry in Tjølling/Larvik, Norway and offers a platform for art projects that mainly combine sculpture, graphics and geology.
We established the Kunstfelt Stålaker to highlight the art projects on site, but also to invite
other artists and institutions to collaborate.
Printmaking Through my graphic design studies and media-oriented concepts, I discovered the graphic world of printmaking. For me, combining simple graphic elements such as surface, shape, line and color with own statements using a wide variety of craft techniques means visualization and experimenting to answer questions.
The printmaking techniques reveal the invisible aspects of a print template through printing and serve me primarily for abstraction. Above all, the themes of time, decay and construction in relation to contradictions are recognizable to me through patterns, contrasts, collage and image segments. It`s exciting to use repeating print templates of any kind, like a text that is constantly evolving and then conveys content at the end. The focus during the printing process is not on the individual print, but rather on the series or a sequence of prints with the same themes and inspirations.
I also use the joint art projects in public environments with sculpture and concepts as inspiration for my graphic print art. The character of industrial materials, the diversity of stone surfaces and also photography fascinate me in the combination of identity and reproduction. Time as a yardstick and historical witness. Everyday metals and materials document the intellectual aspect of intaglio printing and are a great source of inspiration for further work. Printing in layers and thus putting together a final puzzle is closely linked to the printing techniques intended to convey my expression.

Workshop sculptor Martin Kuhn
The stone sculptor's artistic workplace is located directly in the industrial landscape of the Larvikitt quarry from Lundhs AS and maintains close cooperation with
the stone industry. Here M.Kuhn realizes artistic projects in the field of art in architecture and free sculpture work. As a lecturer at Vestfold University, the working place also serves as a
teaching platform for students, as well as pupils from schools and those interested in stone and art as an interesting source of information on geological, technical or artistic
topics.
Graphic workshop Christine Dingens
The printing workshop is located directly next to the sculpturepark Stålaker and combines the three dimensional work of sculpture and the material stone with the two dimensionality of printmaking on paper. The workshop is not only an exhibition space, but also offers C.Dingens digital options for concept and administration of art projects.
Workshop Symposium Norge
The workshop and thus the workplace for the stone sculptors and guests of the Symposium Norges is located directly in Lundhs AS's Stålaker quarry. The workplace offers basic tools and machine assistance for artistic work with local Larvikite, which is kindly sponsored by the stone industry.
Stålaker Quarry/ Larvikite
The Stålaker quarry provides the basis for all artistic activities related to the local blue crystalline Larvikite. Thematic areas of geology, art, nature and industry come here together. With the friendly support of the Lundhs stone industry, stone sculptors from all over the world have the opportunity to realize and develop their artistic ideas with stone. The Kunstfelt Stålaker mediates between artists, interested institutions and the stone industry and provides technical and artistic assistance.
Sculpture Park Stålaker
The Stålaker Sculpture Park was established in 1997 by Symposium Norge and the sculptures were exhibited by the international sculptors who had taken part in the Larvikite Symposium in the Stålaker quarry. In addition, many of the sculptures by the stone sculptor and founder of Symposium Norge, Makoto Fujiwara, are also on display at the Sculpture Park Stålaker. With the integration of additional fields, the sculpture park and the collection of symposium sculptures were able to expand.
Since 2007, sculptures by the sculptor Martin Kuhn have also been exhibited in another adjacent park area. The Sculpture Park Stålaker varies its sculpture exhibitions, especially as part of the International Larvikite Sculpture Symposium, in order to be able to present the sculptors' current and contemporary artistic works. All sculptures were created from the local stone "Larvikite", with the sculptors choosing their stone material from the surrounding Lundhs AS quarries. The Kunstfelt Stålaker has set the goal of making the sculpture park accessible to a wider public.
International Larvikite Sculpture Symposium Norge
The International Symposium Norge was founded in 1985
as a non-profit event and supports international and national stone sculptors in realizing their artistic ideas on stone, free from commercial backgrounds. The idea of the symposium is to bring
like-minded sculptors together and to enable a creative and professional exchange. This has been continued in collaboration between Lundhs AS and Kunstfelt Stålaker since 2019. As a sponsor,
Lundhs AS supports the artists with Larvikitt material, travel and accommodation as well as food and provides a workplace directly in the quarry. The Kunstfelt Stålaker operates the Symposium
Norge, also on a non-profit and voluntary basis. The KFS would like to build a bridge between the stone industry, the international guests and sculptors of the symposium and a public interested
in art.

@Pi-parken "Matteparken", Larvik
The PI-Parken in Larvik is an offer from the Larvik municipality for kindergarten children to gain their first scientific experiences in the preschool area. The children experience a different play environment and are fascinated by practical tasks. The creation and processing of four large Larvikite stones through experiential mathematics was a collaborative effort between Martin Kuhn and the Larvik municipality together with the stone industry to support and expand the PI Parken idea for children.
